The British weather can on occasions be unpredictable and the Nursery has to be guided by local weather reports when a decision has to be made about whether it is safe for us to remain open. We feel it is important for prospective parents to be aware of our operational practice where inclement weather is forecast. The Nursery will endeavour to remain open during normal session times where it is felt safe to do so, however, on such occasions we would be unable to grant parental requests for:-
- Additional sessions
- Early sessions
- Late sessions
Parents/Carers must collect children promptly at the end of their session. Late collections will out of necessity be charged at the rate of £1.00 per minute per child.
If a child is brought into Nursery for their session and we feel we are unable to maintain a safe staff:child ratio, those parents will be requested to take their child home and reimbursed accordingly. However, there will be no reimbursement for parents of children who do not attend Nursery.
Whilst we shall endeavour to open during inclement weather, we would wish to make parents aware that on any particular occasion, staff numbers and ages of children will all have an impact on our ability to safely operate within the child : staff ratios dictated by Wiltshire Council. We would ask parents for their understanding of our need to accept children on a 'first come first served' basis (effective from their normal time of arrival, e.g. 8.30 am) and once ratios are reached, we will be unable to accept any further children onto the premises. Where this occurs, payment for the period from which a child actually arrives at Nursery (and is turned away) to the end of their session, will be reimbursed. Out of fairness to all there will be no opportunity to reserve places over the telephone, or a telephone call to the Nursery a guarantee that a child's place will be available on arrival.
In conclusion, it is paramount for us to operate a system which is not selective, which is fair to all, and that assures parents that our paramount consideration at all times will remain the safety and well-being of the children and staff on site.
